Joshua Albanese, headshot photographer

Who is Joshua Albanese?

Joshua is a headshot photographer in Fort Myers who founded one of the top-10 rated headshot studios in the United States, working to standards published by the PetaPixel guide on the business of headshot photography, and ran it for 17 years in Chicago.

In 2024 he relocated to Southwest Florida and opened a headshots-only studio in the McGregor and River District corridor of Fort Myers. The goal is the same standard of headshot photography that runs in Chicago, New York, and LA, available to professionals here.

You book Joshua, you get Joshua. Every session is shot by him, not handed to an associate.

The Journey

How did a Chicago studio end up in Fort Myers?

Joshua opened his first headshot studio in Chicago in 2007 and built it into one of the highest-rated headshot studios in the country. The client roster ran from Fortune 500 boardrooms to first-year hires walking in for their first professional photo.

The client list ran from Fortune 500 executives to first-year associates who had never had a professional photo taken.

What made the studio work was the process, not the gear. How to read posture in the first 30 seconds. How to adjust direction when a client is nervous.

How to get a natural expression out of someone who swears they are "not photogenic."

That process travels. See our photography services.

Why Fort Myers

Why Fort Myers?

Southwest Florida's business community is growing fast. New firms, new practices, new offices. Professionals here are building brands and competing for visibility the same way they do in Chicago, New York, or LA.

Customers tell us "finding a professional headshot photographer is an extremely hard job," and Fort Myers options have not kept up. In 2024 Joshua relocated and opened a headshot-only portrait studio at the Fort Myers studio Same standards in a smaller market, no scaling back.

The Approach

How does Joshua coach people who hate the camera?

Most people walk in saying "I am not a fan of having my pic taken" or "I cancelled twice dreading it." That is the norm, not a flaw. The session is built for it.

Coaching, not posing.

Joshua reads body language, facial micro-expressions, and energy in the room. Real-time direction on chin, weight, shoulders, and breath.

Unlimited session time.

No 15-minute block. No 30-minute countdown. The shoot runs until you have shots you love within your booked session.

The "everyone is beautiful" rule.

Every person has angles, expressions, and lighting that make them look like the best version of themselves. The photographer's job is to find them.

What's Different

What makes a session at this studio different?

A few things shape every session at this studio.

Direction, not posing.

No pose chart. Live coaching on chin angle, shoulder position, weight, hands, and breath. You do not have to figure out how to look good.

No shortcuts.

Unlimited session time. Pro retouching on every selected image. One photographer from start to finish.

Transparent pricing.

$500 session, $150 per selected image. Standard 48 to 72 hour delivery, 24-hour rush available. Full pricing.

What clients say about JA Headshots

Feedback after sessions with Joshua, across roles and industries.

"I have worked with Joshua for years. Not only is he insanely talented, but he always provides a seamless, stress free experience."

Google Review · 5 stars · March 2026

"Joshua has not only done great work for me, but countless other associates of mine. As a real estate agent, having a headshot is an essential. So knowing all the in's and outs of getting the best look with little or no editing is huge. He's great at what he does."

Google Review · 5 stars · November 2025

"Joshua did some product photos to replace existing photos on a brochure. My needs were pretty specific, but he overdelivered. The image turnaround was wildly quick. [...] the innate talent to deliver exactly what I needed and turn them around so quickly was really impressive."

How Joshua works, defined

Four concepts that shape every JA Headshots session — the craft, the audience, and the signature details Joshua looks for in every frame.

Headshot

A tightly framed portrait focused on the face, shoulders, and expression. Used for LinkedIn profiles, company about pages, press kits, and any context where a single image stands in for the person.

Personal branding

The deliberate shaping of how a professional presents themselves in public-facing channels. A headshot is the visual anchor of a personal brand; the same person can read confident, approachable, or commanding depending on how the portrait is shot, lit, and edited.

Photo retouching

Post-production work that cleans up skin, color, stray hair, wardrobe wrinkles, and background imperfections without changing the subject's identity. Every selected image from a JA Headshots session includes professional retouching at no extra cost.

Catch light

The small reflection of the light source visible in the subject's eyes. Catch lights bring a portrait to life; without them, eyes look flat and the photo reads dead, which is why studio headshots are lit so the catch light lands consistently.
